Polaris Modular in the press

Modular construction has spent the last few years moving from a curiosity to a serious answer to how quickly the West can build. Along the way, our work has been covered by Utah's business press, its largest newspaper, its startup community, and the Salt Lake Parade of Homes.
Here is where to find it.
Utah Business — the name change
In July 2024, Utah Business reported on our move from direct-to-consumer home sales to serving developers' residential and commercial projects. The piece opens plainly: "Salt Lake City — Stack Homes, a Salt Lake City based modular builder, now introduces Polaris Modular."
The new name reflects the shift in who we build for. Clients named in the article include HSL Properties, Swig, and The Other Side Village — all projects you can find in our project archive.
The Salt Lake Tribune — modular and the housing shortage
The Salt Lake Tribune covered Utah lawmakers drafting legislation to make factory-built modular homes easier to sell across the state. The article cites Modular Building Institute figures putting modular at roughly 39% faster and 16% cheaper than site-built construction.
Our West Jordan plant appears throughout, along with the Ridgeline II — a two bedroom, two bath, 960 square foot model that our team completed in five weeks.
Silicon Slopes — the long-form conversation
Founder and CEO Sumner Douglas sat down with Garrett Clark for episode 181 of the Silicon Slopes podcast.
It is the most detailed public account of how we think: steel-frame modular built for modern, minimalist living, the affordable housing crisis, supply chain pressure, transparency in pricing against variable costs, and the shift from a venture-backed company to a product-oriented one.
Salt Lake Parade of Homes — the Ridgeline II, open to the public
The Salt Lake Parade of Homes listed the Ridgeline II, built using volumetric steel construction technology at our West Jordan factory. Rather than trucking a home to a show site, we opened the plant itself — so visitors walked the factory floor and the finished home in the same afternoon.
A note on the name
Coverage before mid-2024 refers to us as Stack Homes. Same team, same West Jordan plant, same Ridgeline II. Polaris Modular is the name we build under now.
